Welcome to

Jani Järvinen's Technical Blog

Technical notes, tips and findings about software development and IT from 1996 to 2025 and on.

Welcome to my blog. I have been writing about Microsoft technologies, software development, and practical engineering since the mid-1990s. What began as a small set of HTML notes written by hand in Notepad has grown into a continuous archive of over 2,500 posts covering Windows, .NET, C#, PowerShell, SQL Server, Azure, DevOps, and many everyday problems developers run into.

This site brings those posts together into one searchable, structured, and gradually-evolving archive. It may well be one of the oldest still-active developer blogs on the planet.

All content here is stored locally, self-hosted and published using my own C# engine, EverBlog. It allows me to keep the full history intact, explore trends over time, and keep writing without depending on external platforms.

If you're here to solve a problem, I hope you'll find the answer quickly. If you're here to browse, welcome! There's quite a lot of history waiting to be rediscovered.

Update on blog status – November 18, 2025

I'm currently in the process of migrating my old blog posts from 2018 to 2025 to this new system. New material will appear as the work progresses.
