Review: CampusMVP.net WPF 4.0 training

I recently got contacted by Krasis, a company providing online training for Microsoft technologies and products at www.campusmvp.net. One of their services is a developer training, for instance about .NET development. A fellow developer MVP Alessandro del Sole is one of the trainers there, and I got a chance to look at his WPF training course aiming for the Microsoft certification exam 70-511 (WPF with .NET 4.0).

The online training provides all the common features on similar sites, including the material itself, practice questions and links to further documentation on MSDN for example. For more social learning, there is a forum and a chat.

The material for the WPF training course is of good quality, and contains plenty of screenshots from Visual Studio and related products to help linking the text-based theory to the real world. While reading the material, I enjoyed the hands-on feel, so that you don't just prepare for the exam, but to learn how to develop.

Material is developed into modules, and in addition to text and pictures, there's also video content explaining things further. In certain online training courses, the material is divided into very small chunks, or contains mostly video/audio coverage. While this may be appreciated by some, I personally find text-based articles more valuable. Luckily, the site offers a full PDF document (eBook) download possibility after you've completed the modules. I for one find this highly valuable.

All in all, the WPF training course (with associated exams) looked well-written to me. If you are looking for an online training course, you might wish to check Krasis' offerings at their site.
