College programming studies the Finnish way: University of Helsinki’s MOOC online courses
Posted: (EET/GMT+2)
Learning computer science at the university is still something that requires sitting on the lessons, reading books and of course, writing some code. The good news that my study place, University of Helsinki, has started a new online course to teach the basics of computer science: the MOOC.
This online course is free for everyone (in Finnish, of course), and for students it also provides an interesting possibility: to earn study credits ("opintopiste" in Finnish) against a degree from the university. Finally, if you are just looking to enter the university, if you complete enough courses with a high-enough score, you could get a admission directly.
A great development in my opinion, I just with similar things would have been available when I was studying myself!
