Microsoft’s Companion Web initiative for developers

Microsoft has eariler this week announced a new initiative, called the Companion Web. The Companion Web aims at unifying your television (from Microsoft's perspective, the Xbox One) with tablets and phones. There's a good YouTube video available that shows this idea in action.

For example, while you were watching a movie from TV, your phone would be able to both control the playback of the movie, but also be able to display additional information about the movie: plot, cast, trivia, etc.

While I've been investigating Smart TV programming lately, this initiative sounds like a solid one to me. What do you think? Email me!
