State of the nation: on LTE/4G connectivity in Finland

Posted: (EET/GMT+2)

Welcome October! I develop quite a log of code while on the road, and oftentimes I need to have a remote connection to some server, usually through Remote Desktop (your ol' trusty mstsc.exe). But, 3G connection speeds while traveling don't usually break the news, unless the sluggishness is the topic. So I decided to take the plunge, and get myself a proper 4G connection.

Just for recording the current state of things: both of Finland's largest operators currently offer 4G and LTE connections, the cheapest price today appears to be from Saunalahti, for 14,90 €/month for a 50 Mbps connection (4G/dual carrier) or 19,90 €/month for a real LTE connection (up to 100 Mbps).

During the next few months, I hope to be able to report some real statistics around the places I travel to regularly.

Check back soon, then!
