New SWOT analysis for Microsoft’s Windows 8 Embedded operating system

Gartner has released a new freely-available research/analysis document, this time about Windows Embedded operating systems, including Windows 8 Embedded. This SWOT document is available here.

The quick verdict: Gartner sees Windows 8 Embedded as promising, but Microsoft as company isn't probably in top 10 when asking embedded developers about common operating system choices or solutions for IoT (Internet of Things).

But then again, Windows 8 embedded can run your (most of your) favorite apps, and also .NET software you write with Visual Studio. Sounds very good to me – there's plenty to fit under the moniker "embedded".
