Note on multi-account use of OneDrive on Windows Phone 8 (aka “Where are my photos being uploaded?”)

Chances are you have multiple email addresses in use: one or two for work, a couple for personal use, and so on. I'm currently using four accounts actively, and thus sometimes, I need to double-check which email account I'm using.

On Windows Phone 8 (or on 7.x for that matter), the first Microsoft account you give to your phone becomes the default account onto which OneDrive uploads from your phone's camera will go. This is different from the OneDrive app's account.

For instance, if you are using your work email address as your primary OneDrive account, but are using your personal email address as the default account on your (private) phone, your photos for instance will not automatically be uploaded on your work OneDrive, but instead your OneDrive copy associated with the private email address/Microsoft account.

So, even though you can all your files in the OneDrive app, you will not see those automatic upload photos there if these two are using different accounts.

I had a similar situation to figure out just recently, so I thought I'd be appropriate to share my experiences. Luckily, you can always log in to your OneDrive with the web browser, so it is an easy way to check multiple accounts on OneDrive easily.

Hope this helps!
