Finding design assets and guidelines for Windows 8 Store apps
Posted: (EET/GMT+2)
One common and recurring question from .NET developers wishing to start developing Windows 8 "Modern" or Store applications is, "Where can I find design guidelines and ready-made graphics to support my development?" Luckily, Microsoft has made plenty of resources available, and one of these pages is available on MSDN on the page about "Windows 8 Design Guidelines".
I've blogged about these resources before, but there are topics that warrant repetition. Especially with Windows 8 store applications, the user experience and visuals are important. We've come to the point in .NET development that most things that you can imagine in software can be implemented, and thus, the focus has turned into the user experience, or UX. That said, there's a great need for high-quality guidance, and this is what the above design guidelines document aims to provide.
