Outlook 2013 tip: overlay multiple calendars into a single view

Posted: (EET/GMT+2)

Oftentimes, you need multiple calendars in your Microsoft Office Outlook: one or two for work, one for family stuff, and one for your kite flying class.

By default, Outlook opens these calendars side-by-side, meaning that you can easily view perhaps two or three calendars conveniently side-by-side. If you have more calendars to view, then the side-by-side viewings starts to fail: calendar items become very tiny, and long title texts might be cut.

But, there are times when you need to view, say, five or six calendars at once. For this, there's a great, but not-so-well-known feature in Outlook: the ability to overlay calendars.

To overlay one calendar on top of another, go to the calendar view, and on the left-hand side where the available calendars are listed, right-click one of the calendars you'd like to view, and then select "Overlay". Repeat the step for any other calendars.

To reverse the operation, simply select the command again for any calendar you want. You can have a combination of overlaid and side-by-side calendars if you like.

Hope this helps!
