How did the Windows version numbers go, again?

Windows operating system has evolved a lot in the thirty years it has been available. When developing applications for the Windows platforms, you run into Windows versions from time to time. But quick, what was the marketing name for Windows 5.1? As times goes by, it gets harder to remember these details.

Luckily, Microsoft has compiled a nice list about the versions, starting from Windows 2000, i.e. Windows 5.0.

A special note about Windows 10: if you don't acknowledge your support for Windows 10 in your application's manifest file, Windows 10 reports the OS version as 6.x instead of 10.0, which it really is. Something to keep in mind.
