Windows commands you had forgotten about: “lodctr”

When it comes to performance monitoring on Windows, the Performance Monitor application is the best built-in utility for the job. Many performance counters are part of the operating system, but applications can also register their own performance counters.

The system registry is used to keep track of the available counters, and there's a handy command-line utility to manage those counters. The utility is called "lodctr", and it allows you to reset, repair, backup and restore performance counter configurations.
