How to set (or remove) an Azure spending limit on your subscription

When working with cloud services such as Azure, an inherent risk is related to the amount of spending on your solution. Especially for public web applications that are paid by the hour or network bytes, you run a risk of creating a large bill for yourself in a case of sudden (upward) increase to application usage.

For this reason, Azure allows you to specify a spending limit for your account, so that you never get surprise bills that are too large or above your budget. If it happens that the spending limit is reached, your services will stop working, but your pocket stays safe.

To set a spending limit, go to the Azure Account Center, and from there, select your subscription (usually you'd have one). From there, you can specify a spending limit.

On the other hand, if you wish to change or completely remove a spending limit, you can do this, too from the same web portal page.

Happy "clouding"!
