Too slow SQL Server installation can interrupt TFS configuration

Today's blog post is a quick note from the field while installing TFS. If the SQL Server connection is too slow, or the hardware is too modest, you might get timeout errors.

More specifically, a timeout error can be reported while you use the Team Foundation Server Administration Console to configure your installation.

Remember that while SQL Server Express is fine for small installations, you need to have decent hardware to run it. A left-over laptop with a slow-spinning HDD disk and 4 GB RAM is not anymore sufficient for TFS 2015 or later.
