What is the Pinecone vector database Microsoft made available?

Just a few days ago, Microsoft announced the Pinecode SDK available for .NET developers. This is how Microsoft defines Pinecone in their announcement blog post:

Pinecone is a robust vector database designed to efficiently handle and query large-scale vector data. With Pinecone, engineers and data scientists can effortlessly build vector-based AI applications that require efficient similarity search and ranking.

So, if you are building AI solutions and need a vector database for example for storing embeddings, there's not a nice alternative for C# and .NET developers.

The SDK itself is available as a NuGet package named Pinecone.Client. At this writing, the version 1.0.0 is now available for downloading.
