Microsoft MAI-Code-1.1-Flash coding AI model now available

Microsoft has just released the latest version of their MAI-Code model for software development related tasks. The official name for the model is MAI-Code-1.1-Flash, where the "MAI" part comes from Microsoft AI.

Since the model is very new, it's hard to find comparison on AI leaderboards just yet, but I'm sure they will catch soon. In Microsoft's own testing, this new model was little ahead of Anthropic's Haiku 4.5 and OpenAI's GPT 5.4. mini for the SWE Bench benchmark.

The new model is now available on GitHub Copilot, but you have to specifically enable it. Vital stats are: 138 billion parameters and 256K tokens. Model card is available.
