Linux containers on Windows: WSLC now generally available

Posted: (EET/GMT+2)

Microsoft today announced the general availability (GA) of WSL Containers (WSLC), a feature that allows you to build, run and manage Linux-based container workloads.

New commands include:

  • wslc container restart: restart a running container
  • wslc container cp: copy files in and out via tar archive
  • wslc system info: see the state of your container environment at a glance
  • wslc network connect and wslc network disconnect: attach and detach containers from networks.

Here, the wslc is the new command-line command for managing WSL containers. The previous command wsl is still available and related to the Windows Subsystem for Linux in general.

In case you are interested in WSL-C architecture, there's a very nice deep dive on the Microsoft developer blogs.

Go containers!
